Counts of Blois
The county of Blois was created in 960 and it was located along the river Loire southwest of
Paris. Its counts also ruled the neighboring counties of Touraine (908-1044) and Chartres (960-1284).
Blois came through marriage to a collateral branch of the French royal house 1397
and it was united with the royal domain 1498 when they inherited the crown.
